GOALS PROVE COSTLY FOR EIRE OG

Barryroe edged out Eire Og in a highly entertaining division 3 hurling league in Ovens on Sunday afternoon.

With a week to go before championship, eire og will be very dissapointed with the result. Barryroe made a long trip up from West Cork and will be very happy with the win. The game was only 3 mins old and the eire og defenders couldn't  deal with a long ball, and the barryroe corner-forward buried it home to the back of the net. Eire Og then replied with a point on the 6min from Paul Mc Donagh from the sideline. From the puckout, barryroe got a point on the 7 min to make it barryroe 1-1 eire og 0-1.eire og then settled into the game a point from midfielder alan o mahony made it a 2 points game.then eire og  put a ball into the box and corner forward cathal murphy flixed it into the bottom corner of the net.on the 10 min john dineen put a point over the bar and on the 15^th minute kevin hallisey put over a superb point near the sideline after a good ball from alan o mahony to make it eire og 1-4 to barryroe 1-1.

Now it was barryroes period of dominance they scored 4 points in a row 2 from frees to make it barryroe 1-5 eire og 1-4 after 22 mins. eire og full forward kevin hallissey drew the game with 5 mins to go before the short whistle. Barryroe finished the half strong they scored 2 points in a row to put them ahead 1-7 to 1-5. Then there was a scrample for the ball in front of eire og goals the ball eventually was pulled on to a free barryroe man who belted the ball to the back of the net to put 5 points between them. Straight from the puck out again the ball with into the barryroes box and cathal murphy pulled on the ball and went in top corner of the net.to make it barryroe 2-7 eire og 2-5 after 30 mins. Barryroe then put 3 points between the sides after a free. Then  on the 32min fionn o rourke put the ball over the bar for eire og to make it a half time score barryroe 2-8 eire og 2-6.

2nd half saw the introduction of cork football stars ciaran sheehan and daniel goulding to the eire og team to try and turn the tide. John dineen put a free over the bar and barryroe then responded with a point,on the 33^rd min paul mcdonagh for eire og scored a point to make it barryroe 2-9 eire og 2-8.barryroe then got a score to make it 2-10 to 2-8. Then a barryoe forward burst through the eire og defence and had a poweful shot, which was saved superbly by the eire og keeper paul ryan. However the ball rolled out to a free barryroe man to tap the ball to a empty net to make it barryroe 3-10 eire og 2-8 after 37mins. You would think the game was over but eire og wouldn't give up, daniel goulding and kevin hallisey scored 2 point in a row to make it barryroe 3-10 eire og 2-10.

Barryroe then scored a free to make it a 4 point a game,kevin hallisey then scored from the puck out for eire og to make it barryroe 3-11 eire og 2-11.the nxt 10 mins cost eire og the game as barryroe scored 4 points in a row 1 from a free.to make it barryroe 3-15 eire og 2-11 with 9 mins to go.

Eire og would never give up and barryroe conced a free just outside the penaly area and with about 7 men in goal for barryroe they still coudnt stop a poweful shot to the roof of the net from kevin hallisey.to put 4 points between the sides .with 1 minute to go kevin hallisey scored a point for eire og and cathal murphy scored a pont for eire og to make barryroe 3-15 eire og 3-13 with time up.maybe eire og could snatch a dramtic winner but wasn't to be as barryroe defenders were rock solid and put the  ball to the barryroe forwards and put it over the bar 4 mins into injury time  to make it a fulltime score barryroe 3-16 eire og 3-13. A very dissapointing performance from eire og and with charleville beating kanturk today in the other league match by 9 points 1-19 to 2-7 most people will write eire og off now, but eire og are a championship side and could pull off a surprise this Saturday (26^th) in mallow at 7.30pm.
