Mid Cork U 21 Football Championships
 U 21 ‘B' Football Championship Final
Iveleary   3 - 15     Canovee   3 - 6
Iveleary, Mid Cork ‘C' champions in 2011 and with 15 of the 17 players who figured in last years final still available, added the ‘B' championship trophy to their collection with a well merited win over Canovee in an entertaining final at Macroom.  Canovee forced the pace for much of the opening half but suffered a couple of body blows before the interval which left them with only a narrow two point lead going into the second half when they would have to face the wind playing with a man short.  To their credit, Canovee, having fallen behind, then scored a third goal to temporarily regain the lead in the 47th minute on a score of 3-5 (14) to 1- 10 (13) but Iveleary quickly drew level and David Hourihan's goal in the 53rd minute broke the deadlock and thereafter there was only going to be one winner.  Iveleary finished in style, adding another 1-4 to their tally, and are worthy ‘B' champions for the first time since 1999.  On the 2012 campaign trail they have accounted for Beal Ath'n Ghaorthaidh, Naomh Aban, Macroom and Canovee, all clubs of Intermediate status, and Iveleary will now be hopeful that this current crop of players can carry on to provide the much longed-for success at junior level.
Canovee suffered a number of reverses before the game ever started with the loss of Michael and Aidan Deasy, and Charles Kenneally, all out through injury since the semi final win.  They did have Aidan Moynihan back in action for the first time this season and were in determined form as the game got under way in perfect conditions before a fine attendance.  Darragh Ring and Sean O'Connor had early points to give Canovee a good start but a Cathal Vaughan free and a point from play from Denis O'Leary had the sides level after nine minutes.  Cathal Vaughan then kicked over another free to put Iveleary ahead but Mark Verling shot a 13th minute goal to put Canovee back in front to which Vaughan replied with another Iveleary point.  Canovee then hit a purple patch with two Darragh Ring points being followed by a smashing goal from James Moynihan, who ran on to a clever flicked pass from Ring before burying the ball in the Iveleary net.  Verling added a point and Canovee led by 2-5 to 0-4 with 24 minutes having elapsed.  Seven points behind, Iveleary needed a quick boost and it was provided in the 26th minute by a Denis O'Leary goal, the wing forward somehow squeezing a low shot inside the Canovee post in a crowed goalmouth.  A minute later, a tangle between two players on the ground led to the dismissal of a Canovee player (red carded) and Iveleary had two further points before the interval, one each from Denis O'Leary and David Hourihan.  This burst of scoring meant that the Canovee lead was now only two points, 2-5 to 1-6, and with their numerical advantage and given that they had been playing quite well, the Iveleary camp had reason to be hopeful of ultimate victory at the interval.
Canovee were not going to facilitate an easy win for Iveleary and it took all of fourteen minutes for the western side to even draw level after the restart, two points from Cathal Vaughan, one from a free being the only scores in this period.  Eamonn Creedon then kicked over to give Iveleary the lead and David Dineen added a point and it seemed that Iveleary were on the road to victory. To heighten the excitement, Canovee struck for an unexpected goal, this one from a fierce drive from Aidan Moynihan but Cathal Vaughan pointed to level the scores once again.  The score which broke the Canovee resistance came seven minutes from time when Liam Kearney moved a clearance out of defence to Vaughan and David Dineen supplied a perfect final pass to David Hourihan who calmly stroked the ball wide of  Darren Shine in the Canovee goal from close range to give Iveleary the advantage at the vital time. Vaughan immediately pointed a free and then took one from play, Alan O'Brien came forward to send over the bar and Eamonn Creedon then put the icing on the cake for Iveleary with a late goal.  Canovee, battling to the end, had the final score, a point from a Darragh Ring free.

    U 21 ‘C' Football Championship Final
Naomh Aban   5 - 8     Cill na Martra   2 - 11
Naomh Aban and Cill na Martra met in last year's U21 ‘B' championship final with victory going to the latter by a single goal.  This year the two teams were meeting in the ‘C' final and the victory margin in favour of Naomh Aban was a more comfortable six points and in truth the Baile Mhuirne side were looking likely winners from an early stage.  That they could never quite relax however is a tribute to the spirited challenge of their near neighbours who although always playing catch-up had enough talent to keep the winners under pressure to the finish and ensure that spectators were entertained to the final whistle of a sporting encounter at Macroom.
Naomh Aban last won an U 21 Mid Cork title in 1995 when they were crowned‘A' champions and have suffered many final disappointments since; little wonder then that they were delighted with this latest victory.
The opening quarter was very evenly contested with both teams going about their business with great purpose.  Daire MacLoughlin opened the scoring with a point for Cill na Martra but Naomh Aban hit back with a goal from Declan Murphy whose fist met a cross from Colm Murphy to put the Baile Mhuirne side in front in the 4th minute.  Daire MacLoughlin had another point but again the Naomh Aban response was a goal - this one in the tenth minute from Gerry Lyons, the first of three the dashing centre forward was to score.  A goal from Shane Dineen in the 17th minute for Cill na Martra was quickly followed by another MacLoughlin point and the sides were level at 2-0 to 1-3 after 18 minutes play.  Colm Murphy, outstanding all season for Naomh Aban, kicked a point to put N. Aban back in front, added another and then Colm Hyde did likewise but Cill na Martra replied with a point from a free from one of their star performers, Kevin Hoare.  Colm Murphy had another N. Aban point but Hoare pointed another free and so at half time Naomh Aban led by 2-4 to 1-5 and seemed to be the stronger side.
‘Goals win matches' it is said and Gerry Lyons burst through the Cill na Martra defence early in the second half to bang in has sides third major and inflict huge damage on Cill na Martra and further boost his own side's morale enormously. Kevin Hoare replied with a point from a free, and in the 39th minute repeated the exercise.  A minute later however Paul Casey had the ball in the Cill na Martra net once again and Naomh Aban were heading for victory.  Kevin Hoare kicked a magnificent long range point for Cill na Martra, negated by a Gerry Lyons point for Naomh Aban. Daire MacLoughlin had a Cill na Martra point in the 50th minute, back came Naomh Aban and Gerry Lyons completed his hat trick to open up an eight pint lead for Naomh Aban.  Naomh Aban added three further points, one each from Danny O'Donoghue, Chris MacPhail and Colm Murphy, but brave Cill na Martra hit back with a great goal from Peter Moynihan and further points from Liam Lynch and Shane Dineen.  The result however was unaffected and Naomh Aban were clear and deserving winners after a most entertaining game.   Naomh Aban: Miceal O Donnchu: Donncadh O Duinnin, Chris O Deasuna, Eanna O Criodain: Sean O Briain, Muiris O Donnchu, Tomas O hEaluithe: Colm de hIde, Colm O Murchu: Donal O Donnchu, Diarmuid O Liathain, Niall O Ceallaigh: Pol O Cathasaigh, Deaglan O Murchu, Cathal O hAileamhain.    U 21 ‘D' Football Championship Final
Kilmichael   2 - 15     Clondrohid   0 - 9
The final of the U 21 ‘D' championship (13 a side) was played at Rusheen and after being held by Clondrohid for almost three quarters of the game, Kilmichael broke free after Shane Foley's 43rd minute goal put them 2-6 to 0-8 ahead and they were well on top in the closing stages, outscoring their opponents by 0-9 to 0-1 in that period to fashion out a comprehensive victory.
Clondrohid, with the wind behind them in the first half looked the better side early on.  Mark Creed and John O'Connell were doing well at midfield and the forwards thrived on a supply of good ball.  Darragh Healy opened the scoring after a minute, Mark Creed added another point two minutes later and Neilus Murphy made it 0-3 in the fourth minute.  Thirteen minutes had elapsed before Kilmichael had their first score, a point from Daniel Twomey and David Lynch had another Clondrohid point soon after to maintain the three point gap between the teams.  As the second quarter opened, Twomey and Lynch had another exchange of points and Shane Foley's point for Kilmichael cut he deficit to two points in the 20th minute.  Peter Kelleher and Shane Cotter for Kilmichael were now emerging as the dominant pairing at midfield and the winners got through for a vital first goal in the 22nd minute, Denis O'Donoghue finding the Clondrohid net to put Kilmichael in the lead.  David O'Leary equalised from a free in the 27th minute for Clondrohid but Denis O'Donoghue had a lead point for Kilmichael just before the short whistle.  At the break Kilmichael led by 1-4 to 0-6 and with the wind to aid them in the second half they looked to be in a good position.
On the restart, Danny Twomey pointed a free for Kilmichael and then added a point from play but Clondrohid stayed in touch with points from Neil O'Shea and Mark Creed and they could have been even closer with greater accuracy in attack.  The writing was on the wall for Clondrohid in the 43rd minute when Shane Foley slammed a loose ball to their net, and Daniel Twomey, a constant threat in the Kilmichael attack then add a point from a free to open up a five point gap.  Twomey had a superb point from play in the 47th minute and Brendan Cotter pointed a free and then had a point from play as Kilmichael were rampant, tight in defence, dominant at midfield and with Daniel Twomey causing havoc in attack.  David O'Leary had a final Clondrohid point in the 53rd minute from a free, quickly answered by a Shane Foley point from play at the other end.  In the run up to full time, Brendan Cotter and Daniel Twomey had point each from play and then Twomey pointed two frees to give Kilmichael a decisive winning margin.   Kilmichael: Shane Masters: Noel McSweeney, Stephen Kelleher: Brendan Cotter (0-3, 0-2 frees), Finbarr Buckley, Darragh Foley: Shane Cotter, Peter Kelleher: Michael Healy, Fintan Cotter, Shane Foley (1-2): Denis O'Donoghue (1-1), Daniel Twomey (0-9, 0-4 frees).
