Ballincollig Credit Union Junior A Hurling Final 2012

Grenagh 1-15 Cloughduv 2-11 
Grenagh were crowned Mid-Cork champions after a dramatic injury-time victory over Cloughduv at Ballincollig in a very exciting final.  Grenagh thus regained the Mid Cork crown after suffering narrow defeats by Cloughduv in the finals of 2010 and 2011 and hopefully they will now do well in the county championship.

Grenagh started well with early points from Conor Fitzgerald and Seamus Coleman but Cloughduv hit back with a booted 6th minute goal from Brian Ahern.  Sean O'Connor added a point for the reigning champions but Grenagh hit back strongly and they led by 0-9 to 1-4 at the break.

Andrew Cronin's pointed free reduced the gap to the minimum on the restart but in the 34^th minute Seamus Coleman was fouled, a penalty was awarded to Grenagh and Kelvin Cummins blasted the shot to the net to open up a four point lead.  Tom Kenny, excellent at centre forward for Grenagh, added a point but Darren Kelly replied for Cloughduv in the 40^th minute.  Tom Kenny again pointed but then Grenagh suffered a major setback when a defender was dismissed for a second yellow card offence.  Two points from Andrew Cronin frees increased the pressure on Grenagh but Tom Kenny came to their rescue with two morale boosting points to again leave five points between the teams with six minutes left.  Now came the drama as Darragh Ring slipped inside the cover for a superb Cloughduv goal and then Ring reduced the gap to a point as Cloughduv piled on the pressure. As the tension increased Andrew Cronin struck over an equalising free on the stroke of full time and the momentum was with Cloughduv.  Injury-time points from Seamus Coleman and Tom Kenny put Grenagh back in front and even though Sean O'Connor then reduced the deficit to a point Cloughduv just could not get the equaliser.
