Ross Oil Junior Football Championship
Blarney 1 - 9 Clondrohid 0 - 4
The second half of this game at the well prepared Rusheen venue was very disappointing and the outcome which looked uncertain at half time was assured by the three quarter stage when Clondrohid had been reduced to thirteen players against a full Blarney line out.
The first half finished even on the scoreboard at 0-3 each. Clondrohid had a forward dismissed for a second yellow card offence in the 35th minute. Blarney had points from a Brian Hurley free and from Keith Costelloe before Fergal Kelleher had the only second half score for Clondrohid, a point in the 41st minute. Three minutes later the issue was decided when a second Clondrohid forward was dismissed, this time a straight red, and thereafter it was only a matter of time before Blarney applied the finishing blows. Donoughmore 1 - 16 Ballinora 1- 3
As expected Donoughmore were too strong for the second Ballinora fifteen at Ballyanley. The reigning champions led by 1-8 to 0-1 at half time and even though Ballinora battled bravely to the finish they were never in live contention to win this game. James Twomey had the Donoughmore goal midway through the half and Dara O'Neill scored a fine goal for Ballinora in the second half. Aghinagh 1 - 11 Ballincollig 0 - 12
Aghinagh had a fine win over a fancied Ballincollig side at Coachford to earn a quarter final spot in the championship. Aghinagh took an early lead and then in the 17th minute a goal of real class from Declan Ambrose put Aghinagh 1-4 to 0-1 in front. From here to the interval however Ballincollig came back into contention and at half time the score was 1-5 to 0-7 in favour of Aghinagh.
The second half was as enjoyable a half hour of football as one could wish for with the issue always in doubt. As the full time whistle approached there was every likelihood of a Ballincollig equaliser but in injury time it was the outstanding Donal Corkery who sealed victory for Aghinagh. Aghinagh: Paul O'Sullivan: Jeremiah Kelleher, Seamus O'Leary, Alan Hourihan: Trevor Burns, Dave Barry, Paudie O'Sullivan: Con Lehane, Mikey O'Brien (0-2): Sean Horgan, Donal Corkery (0-2), Jeremiah Corkery (0-2): Barry O'Leary (0-3, 0-1 free), Declan Ambrose (1-2), Kieran Lehane.
