Inniscarra                       2-09

Blarney                           0-09

Inniscarra comfortably defeated Blarney in this Ross Oil JAFC game in blustery conditions at Donoughmore last night.  The winners completely dominated the opening half and led by 2-5 to 0-2 at the break. Despite a spirited second half, Blarney were unable to get within touching distance of a determined Inniscarra outfit.

John O'Callaghan had an outstanding game for Inniscarra, defending superbly throughout while his direct style was instrumental in setting up a number of scores.  To their credit Blarney battled all the way to the finish but they couldn't engineer any decent goal scoring opportunities.

Inniscarra made full use of the elements and registered the opening score from their hugely influential target man Dan O'Connell.  Two placed efforts from Timmy Murphy followed as Blarney struggled to gain any meaningful possession.

Conor Cronin was causing the Blarney defence all sorts of problems and his excellent pass to John Casey resulted in a penalty for Inniscarra after 15 minutes. Dan O'Connell expertly converted to ensure his side stormed into a seven point lead.

A second Inniscarra goal was scored by Colm Casey in a goalmouth scramble after 24 minutes which effectively ended this game as a contest.  Blarney grabbed two late points through Brian Hurley (free) and Mark O'Leary to make it 2-5 to 0-2 at half-time.

The aforementioned Mark O'Leary really stormed into the game early in the second- half and his thundering shot went over the bar after hitting the  crossbar. Timmy Murphy converted two placed efforts for Inniscarra to ensure his side led by, 2-08 to 0-5 at the end of the third quarter.

Blarney enjoyed plenty of possession in the final quarter as the weather conditions really deteriorated    Brian Hurley scored three points without reply to leave six points between the sides with 6 minutes remaining.   However Inniscarra took control in the closing minutes to ensure there was no late drama and Timmy Murphy kicked an excellent point from play to seal the victory.
