Cill na Martra have been crowned Muskerry U21 A Football Champions for the first time after a barnstorming triumph over Kilmurry after extra-time in the final replay at Macroom on Saturday. It was another cracking game of football, with Daniel Ó Duinnin and Micheál Ó Deasúna popping up with vital points in extra-time to propel Cill na Martra over the line.

After the first quarter, sides were level at 0-3 apiece, with Ó Deasúna splendid point after being set up by Seán Ó Cróinin the pick of the bunch. On the 20th minute, arguably the score of the night, an outstanding through ball from Ó Deasúna dissected the Kilmurry defence to set up Daniel Ó Duinnin and he made no mistake to finish to the net

Kilmurry clawed their way back in the game, with Eoghan Clifford and Sean Warren to the fore, trailing 1-4 to 0-6, until John O’ Mullane rattled the net after a smart pass by Joe Ryan. The drama wasn’t finished yet, the winners got their second goal, Daniel Ó Duinnin gave the goalkeeper no chance with his powerful finish to the roof of the net. 2-4 to 1-6 at the break.

Kilmurry settled with two early points in the new half from Tomas Collins and Clifford, but Ó Duinnin got his hat-trick for the winners, after a surging 50 yard run.

For the next eight minutes, Kilmurry scored 1-3 without reply, James Ó Mullane with the goal to lead by three points, 2-11 to 3-5 on the 45th minute. It was a hectic finish to the second half, with seven outstanding points, Cill na Martra with five of those to send the game to extra-time. 3-10 to 2-13. 

The winners controlled extra-time, with six of the eight points in the two periods to seal a historic win.
