Muskerry Gaeldom and further afield are Bemoaning the sad passing of the popular president of Cumann Luth Cleas Gael Muscraí John Brady. John was a popular promoter of Gaelic Games in the Division for a lengthy period. Commencing as an enthusiastic player with his Beloved Eire Og and continued his interest in his club when his playing days were over serving as a selector on various Eire Og teams and also proving to be an excellent Board Delegate. His standing as a Board Delegate among all the clubs in Muskerry is highlighted by the fact that he was selected to the Muskerry GPC. On a number of occasions he was also chosen for Muskerry Senior Hurling selector in the Fifties sixties and seventies. As his standing among the gaels of Muskerry endured he was always on hand to attend the needs of his club as there was no end to the enthusiasm for Gaelic Games . The many achievements of his club Eire Og gave him immense pleasure but he never displayed any degree or triumphalism and was always generous with his efforts at giving respect and credit to all additional teams in Muskerry on their successes over the years.

He continued as a popular Gaelic Games figure as the years progressed and he made additional friends from the different Eras and a major honour was bestowed on him when he was elected to the vacant position of President of the Muskerry GAA Board. He was chosen following a contest to fill that position at the Divisions annual convention held in Blarney in November 1993 and that was certainly the high point of his GAA Career.He proved to be an outstanding popular president and he was always to the forefront of promoting the affairs of Muskerry .In recent months his health deteriorated however his enthusiasm for Gaelic Games never waned and as we all hoped to see him regain full health it was not to be however . So he has departed this life and we are all the poorer for his passing. John is gone but his memory lives on.
