Kilmichael Minor County Final Win

November 16, 2010

Kilmichael were full value for their hard earned victory over nieighbours Clondrohid in an all Muskerry County Final in sun splashed Macroom. Their 3-9 to 2-7 final score didn't look likely as Clondrohid (who had beaten Kilmichael in the Mid Cork Final) raced into a 1-3 to no score lead after ten minutes. The winners had a fumbling opening but steadied the ship to lead on the half way mark on the scoreline of 1-7 to 1-3, the goal coming from sublime Brendan Cotter. As in the first half, Clondrohid started brightly to peg back a piont from throw-in but Kilmichael continued from where they left off in the first half and playing some delightful football edged them further in front, compliments of a well taken penalty by the outstanding Daniel Twomey and a peach of a goal by Darra Foley. Kilmichael had another ace in Cork Minor sub goalie Shane Masters, who was a calming influence between the posts. The Backs as a unit played their part after a shakey start, wellanchored at centre back by Finbarr Buckley and the half forward line ably led by Shane Cotter came up thrumps to secure a famous victory. The Kilmichael supporters crossed the Gearagh with a spring to their step to spark off some dignified celebrations.

Kilmichael scorers Daniel Twomey 1-5, Brendan Cotter 1-3, Dara Foley 1-0 and Shane Cotter 0-1.
