In what turned out to be a cracking game of football Ballincollig came out victorious in the first round of the Ross Oil Junior A Football championship played in Cloughduv.
Ballingeary opened the scoring after 2 mins but Ballincollig quickly levelled through a point from Centre forward Jordan O Connor. Ballincollig then gained a two-point advantage after 9 Minutes with points from Sean O Donoghue and Olan Dorgan. After leading 3-1 after 9 minutes Ballincollig found themselves 4-3 down at the first half water break with 3 quick points from Ballingeary. Ballincollig then roared into life in the second half water break with a good point from Jordan O Connor and a very well taken goal from full forward Dylan Ebili who caught a high ball over his man and finished to the roof of the net giving the Ballingeary keeper no chance of saving. Ballingeary then pointed but this was cancelled out by Harry Ahearne who gave Ballincollig a 3-point lead 1-5 to 5 at half time.
Ballingeary came out of the blocks quickly in the second half scoring 2 quick points in a row but these were quickly cancelled out by a monster score from Callum Sheehan and an Olan Dorgan point giving Ballincollig a lead of 1-7 to 7 at the 40th minute mark. Ballingeary did not give up until the very end and had it back to a one-point game 1-7 to 9 with just over 12 minutes left. Ballincollig then re grouped and scored the last three points of the game with points from Cathal Quirke, Sean O Donoghue and Olan Dorgan which gave Ballincollig the victory on a score line of 1-10 to 10.
