Macroom Motors U21A Football Final....

Éire Óg              3-12

Ballincollig       1-14

An exhibition of high fielding from former Cork minor Jack Murphy propelled Éire Óg to victory over  neighbours Ballincollig in this U21 A mid-Cork final at Coachford yesterday.

Éire Óg finishing strongly after trailing by a point, 1-6 to 1-5 at the break. Both teams traded scores in a lively opening period before Ryan O’Flynn made the most of a defensive error to edge the Ovens side in front with a well taken goal. But Ballincollig replied on the stroke of half-time  with  Darragh Dorgan fisting home after a speculative lob from Darren Murphy.

Three points without reply  from Anthony Doherty, Brian Hurley and Diarmuid Dineen gave Éire Óg a two point lead after the break. A second goal from the hard working Anthony Doherty restored their two point advantage after Ballincollig had pointed through Darren Murphy, Kevin Crowley and James O’Leary.

But the aforementioned Jack Murphy took control setting up Anthony Doherty for their third goal while scoring a couple of classy points to ensure a well merited victory.
