John Feeney is a Qualified Accountant with vast experience in business (including 8 years in Musgraves Head Office - first as Head Office Accountant and then Group Accountant ) and sports administration (including 7 years in Dublin as the first full time General Secretary of Badminton Ireland).
He has held the position of Treasurer with
his former club Inniscarra GAA including Centenary year in 1984 when the club launched its history
his current club Dripsey GAA including 2008/9 when they won the All Ireland Junior Hurling Title
Cork Badminton – first elected in 1986
Munster Badminton – 1988 -1997
Most recently he was elected Treasurer of Badminton Ireland – a Company with an annual turnover well in excess of €1million.
John played all his GAA with Inniscarra from U12 until his thirties
He played Senior Hurling with UCC during his time there in the late 1970’s
He played Senior Hurling and Football with Muskerry in the 1980’s
He was a selector with Inniscarra when they won the Junior B County Football in 1987 / the Mid Cork Junior A Football in 1989 / and when they reached the Premier Intermediate County Final in 1991.
He was Hurling manager with Dripsey for 9 years including their All Ireland success in 2009.
He has been on the Mid Cork Board for the last 10 years spending 5 years on the CCC and the last 2 as Secretary
He has been the Dripsey delegate to the County Board for many years and has always been willing to make a contribution to the debates.
John is well aware of the importance and workload involved in the Treasurer’s position and feels he has the Qualifications and Experience necessary to do the job in a time of change in Cork GAA.
