Dripsey v Eire Og takes place this Saturday evening in the Ross Oil JAFC at Ballincollig.

 
Last weekend in the Muskerry division saw the start of the Muskerry JAFC opening round games. Four games took place, which started last Friday night. Defending champions Kilmurry scored five unanswered points in the final few minutes of their game against Béal Áthan Ghaorthaidh to salvage a draw. A date for the replay at the time of writing was not finalized. Also last Friday night, Iveleary looked in a spot of bother early on against Canovee trailing 1-3 to no score after seven minutes. The introduction of Cathal Vaughan turned the game for Iveleary, as he scored 1-4 to help his side prevail 4-11 to 1-12. Canovee will now play the losers of Éire Óg/Dripsey in Round 2 (Losers Round).
There was a double header in Kilmurry last weekend, first up Ballincollig used all their skill and guile to get over Kilmichael. Sides were level at 1-5 each at half-time, but the likes of Conor Kinsella, Niall Allen, Stephen Coughlan and David Bowen helped Collig over the line by a single point, 1-14 to 2-10. Kilmichael must now regroup before they face Inniscarra in Round 2.
The second game saw Aghinagh squeeze past Inniscarra, 1-13 to 0-14, with youngster Micheál Horgan and Declan Ambrose chipping in with vital points in the forward line. Inniscarra will now meet Kilmichael in Round 2.
 
Finally, there is only one game in the Ross Oil JAFC this weekend, with the meeting of Éire Óg and Dripsey in Round 1 tomorrow. Éire Óg used one sub in their PIFC Round 1 win over Grenagh last month, so they should be relatively strong in this one. Kieran Sullivan, John Dineen Liam Murphy and Aidan O’ Connor should be available and will be key to their hopes of victory.
Dripsey applying their trade in the Division 2 of the junior football league have won 1 and lost 1 in the two games so far, will be looking to improve on last year’s disappointing campaign. Dripsey have new management team led by John Hogan. Dean O’ Sullivan, John Carey, Conor Hayes, Gary Murphy and Aidan Buckley are all integral parts of this team.The likelihood is that it will be close, with maybe the experience and knowhow of Dripsey getting them over Line.
